SUMMARY:

Sets-up and operates CNC and manual machinery in accordance to Safety Practices, Operational Manuals and direct input from his/her Team Lead. Runs simple to complex programs on CNC machines and observes the operation of the equipment to ensure the accuracy of the part to the Customer’s drawing. Manually checks machine function by using measuring devices to ensure work output is within acceptable limits. Brings technical issues to the attention of his/her Team Lead.

Directly supports administration and maintenance of NQA-1 Quality Management System. In a highly
collaborative environment, the incumbent performs documentation control activities and record maintenance
in support of high-end custom equipment design and fabrication for the nuclear, pharmaceutical, and other
industries.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 
• Perform error-free distribution and submittal of controlled documents to internal and external
customers and maintain accurate records of distribution.
• Perform the updating and distribution of controlled documents and maintain accurate records of
updates (documents, travelers, Purchase Orders, CMTRs, COCs, and related items). This includes
issuing, maintaining, and controlling Springs ATG drawings as well as customer supplied drawings –
assuring that current revisions are available.

• Maintain records, including submitting documents to the document management system and

A Level 2 position that is responsible to layout and fabricate complex metal products with little or no supervision. Familiar and proficient at welding in accordance with ASME Section IX welding procedures using carbon steel, stainless steel and alloy materials.

  • When certified, performs dimensional and surface finish inspections.
  • When certified, performs Nondestructive Testing.
  • Operates inspection equipment and interprets results to code and specification requirements.
  • Responsible for coordinating inspection requirements, scheduling, and associated documentation and records.
  • Evaluates data and writes reports to document results to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • A proficient understanding of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Inspects materials received, work in process and finished products using conventional inspection instruments to ensure conformance with work orders, blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Must maintain inspection process and documentation in compliance with the Quality System requirements.
  • May be trained as a Quality System auditor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Qualified as an AWS CWI or ACCP Level II, and

• Inspection Experience - 3 years for High school/GED level, 2 years for Associate's Degree, 1 year for Bachelor's Degree

• Manufacturing Experience - 6 years for High School/GED level, 3 years for Associate's Degree, 2 years for Bachelor's Degree


SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Must be proficient in the inspection practices for which qualified.
  • Ability to utilize hand-held measurement tools, e.g.. calipers, micrometers, bore gages, steel rule, tape measure, etc.
  • Must be proficient in interpretation of drawings and specifications.
  • Must have a proficient understanding of quality documentation.
  • Must be proficient with using computers.
  • Must have the ability to become proficient in use of CMM equipment: grasping the concepts, programming, and able to use equipment efficiently, applicable to the product being inspected.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Level I

  • Responsible for meeting set production times
  • Mix a variety of standard coating materials to proper consistency.
  • Ensure that surface is properly prepared before applying standardized coatings to obtain desired finish.
  • Practice good safety habits and maintain clean and safe work environment.
  • Report malfunctions of equipment or processing to supervisor.
  • Responsible for overseeing the preparation and masking of surfaces for painting to obtain desired finish.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or a minimum of two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must be certified in forklift operation per Springs Fabrication standards, within 30 days of accepting this position. Must be certified in rigging operation per Springs Fabrication Standards, within 30 days of accepting this position. Must be able to qualify to use a full-face respirator through a qualification process as identified by OSHA and internal Springs Fabrication procedures.

SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Knowledge of and proficiency at using a variety of hand tools and equipment. Familiar with most common materials of construction. Must be able to work at heights in a man-lift or on a ladder, i.e. greater than 20 feet. Must be able to operate, with training, various types of standard rental equipment.
